Thanks Gabby. I'll try cleaning. I have cleaned a lot of the typewriter, but I may need to take apart the vibrator and associated parts to clean it more thoroughly. That's the thing that's frustrating about these wonderful beasts....so hard to get to the little parts inside without creating a new problem in the process! Sigh.

My Hermes Rocket for sure.... pretty much perfect in every way...form and function.

My Lettera 22 ...  The best little typer.....so so smooth.

My Hermes 3000 ...  solid...like super solid, beautiful and a great substantial typer.

I'm not sure about the others....I have about 12 others, but these three are my total favs at this point. When I have time to clean the rest up and fix the various and numerous problems they have I might change my mind...but I kind of doubt it!

The ribbon vibrator doesn't want to go back in place after being raised up when a key is pressed. Any idea what could be the cause? I just fixed a type bar that wouldn't sit back down due to a bent linkage. Not sure if this is related, but If I had to guess I'd say it isn't. Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks!

Hey! I fixed it! I was able to stick a screwdriver in from beneath the type levers and push on the bent linkage until it bent back enough for the type bar to sit down. It's not perfect, but it's good enough. Now I have to spend some time cleaning this filthy beast and then try to get all the pieces back where they belong.

Thanks TypewriterGuy. Sadly it isn't that simple, although I did try pressing in multiple spots on the linkages...BUT, I do think I see the problem now. It appears the bottom part of the linkage, near where it connect to the type lever, is bent. Now...any idea how the hell I get to it to unbend the linkage? I have to admit I'm worried about not being able to get all the pieces back together. I'm tempted to start unscrewing things and see where it leads me, but I'll wait for any advice you can offer!

I've been using stationary with letterhead that a friend printed for me using his amazing linotype machine and a letterpress. It's good to have a pal who's a fine art printer! He turned me on to the French Paper company. They have lots of fun fancy papers. https://www.frenchpaper.com  Honestly though, a nice vintage high cotton content paper is my favorite. I need to try to find some more. A lot of what I've been typing lately is correspondence, so leaning heavily on my stationary. With matching envelopes of course. They have the same design of my Hermes Rocket on the back that I'm using for my avatar (bigger of course). I'd love to have a few other of my typewriters on envelopes so that I could use a Leterra 22 envelope for letters typed on my Lettera 22, a Hermes 3000 envelope for letters typed on it, etc etc. Probably not happening anytime soon though.

I'm trying to clean up a Royal Quiet DeLuxe that I just bought and one of the type bars won't sit down all the way in the basket. It does strike the platen when the corresponding key is pressed. I've tried to make sure there isn't anything blocking the type bar, and the the links aren't bent, but it's hard to tell for sure. Any ideas?
