I bought such a model some years ago for 5 euro on ebay.de

They are excelent machines, but shipment costs to Australia are not in proportion with the worth of this machine.

The first is not a Remington, but a The Noiseless: http://www.typewriter.be/noiseless4.htm
Remington bought the company after a few years, so The Noiseless is quite rare.
The second one looks like a Remington 7.
Both are interesting, but only worth the money if they are in decent shape. Now they are worthless, a pity.

Wow, I'd not heard of the Adler "The Writing Machine" book before.   Looking on-line, the prices are over my pay grade.

On ebay they ask ridiculous prices. In book stores you see them sometimes for 30 euros and of course on flee markets you can find them even cheaper. And it's worth the investment; collecting typewriters without Adler is not the same.

There are even green valentines!
I have only seen the Lexikon 80 on a picture, but it looked authentic to me. We'll see next week.

I bought a Lexikon 80 this week (it's on its way now). Very common, but I still think it's a nice design. What makes this one extra nice is the color: orange. Haven't seen that before. You?

I found my Valentine in a thrift shop in Barcelona for 12,50 euro. :D
I am not a regular typer, but people who do are not too fond about the Valentine.

Hi, I would a division like this:
Pre war:
- index
- portable
- desktop
Post war:
- electric
- portable
- desktop

A third main section could contain tyewriters before the first world war divided by typing mechanism (front strik, side strike, typewheel, etc)

A division by country makes no sense to me, unless it is as a sub-sub division beneath the sections I mentioned..
