One last update...  This is actually a 29-tooth belt.  With that installed, the adjustment sits right in the middle of its slot.  Now that I know what to look for, the various size belts are not hard to find.

Let me just add, if you’re looking for small timing belts, the place to go is: https://www.biedlers-belts.com/synchronous-belts.html

Persistence pays off — I found what I need.  Part number: Gates 60XL025 / PowerGrip 9257-1100.
The Gates version is available from Amazon and many other sites.

Ugh, sorry about the formatting. Editing is weird on an iPad.

Took me a while, but I found the page I was talking about:
http://covingtoninnovations.com/selectric/

The IBM Selectric Typewriter, introduced in 1961, is one of the most important mechanical inventions of the Twentieth Century. It is, indeed, all mechanical; an electric motor is used only to turn one shaft, and its function can be taken over by a hand crank (and is, during repair procedures). It may be the last major invention that doesn't use any form of electrical control.”

I wasn’t trying to imply anything, and indeed the author may have known of the Mag Card.  Just saying, a blanket statement isn’t necessarily always so.

For anyone interested in what the guts of a Selectric Mag Card II looks like, here’s a photo gallery I found (not my photos):https://www.flickriver.com/photos/triplehaata/sets/72157645581902954/

I saw a site where it was stated that the only part of a Selectric that was electrical was the motor and everything else was pure mechanical. He probably never met one of these babies. In fact, the typewriter won’t work without the pedestal — the keyboard does not interface to the print mechanism.

My own Mag Card is currently partially disassembled while I clean and lube it.  Still need to source a belt for the escapement drive.

I have a Selectric Mag Card II, which needs an escapement/backspace drive belt. This is not the main operational drive belt, but rather a separate mechanism in the back left of the machine. IBM part no. 1460471. Does anybody know where I can find one?
Thanks,
Steve

Darn, typing this on my iPad and my pinky finger hit the submit button, and there doesn’t seem to be any way to edit or delete posts..

Starting over...  I’m Steve, from near Seattle, the handle ‘wormey’ is from when I was in electronics trade school nearly 50 years ago.  I’m retired now, and have started playing with my typewriter collection, to get them all running properly.  I have:
Royal FPE
Royal HHE
Smith-Corona 6LEA Coronet Super 12
IBM Mag Card II Selectric
IBM Selectric ||| Correcting

Speaking of the Mag Card, does anyone know where I can find keybuttons for it?  I had inadvertently put a solvent-soaked rag on the keyboard and damaged the left third of the buttons.  Some I can replace by buying a set of buttons off ebay, but other buttons have notations for running the mag card reader/writer.  And a group of buttons to the left of the keyboard that only the Mag Card has. Thanks.

-Steve
