HelloHas anyone got a spare Platen Knob for an Erica typewriter, similar to this pleaseI think one from the 100/105 and 127, 115/120 and 125 and 150/153/155 and 170/173 will suit.The series from 1970's and 1980's till production ceased in 1992.The knob is held to the platen shaft with a grub screw.Thanks

Hi, thanks... helpful information, seems the European machines are expensive in the USA, no doubt due them being uncommon compared with the Corona, Smith-Corona, Underwood, Remington and Royal (I am guessing a bit here).

The one you picked is the earlier type, with the non-collapsing return lever, and is housed in the 'high top' case, the early fibreglass case.

The later machines have a black 'blown plastic' case, which is flatter (no domed lid), and has the collapsing return arm mechanism to fit. These are usually £50 or so, and it is then an expensive replacement part then, and a shame to take a single part from a working machine, and have the rest languishing and otherwise one less machine available for the encouragement of typewriter users, which is what we surely not the best way to serve more typewriter use in our community.

I am reaching out to you as you may be able to help me with a problem please.
 
I am re-commissioning an old family typewriter. It is an Adler Gabriele 25 from 1975, the one that comes contained in the black plastic case, and has a return lever that allows spring loaded downward movement to let the arm fit inside the case. (the earlier Adler Gabriele had a regid case with a domed top with space for the arm without need to fold down).
 
However I see the machine had been damaged in the past.
 
The carriage return link piece (which is the one with two screws and spring, one screw holding the arm to the 'crank piece' and one holding the crank piece down to the end of the carriage frame) is broken and the long lever does not transmit motion to the linkage that moves the platen.
 
I wondered if you had any spare part that might come from one of your Adler donor parts machines that might fit to get this old family machine going again please?
 
I think there were other machines made by Adler and badged Triumph, or Scheidegger International that are the same return lever mechanism that might offer suitable spares.
 
Also the left hand platen knob is broken, and I am looking for a replacement. The overall length of the knob  and shaft tip is 56mm. (The platen does not have an internal clutch operated by pulling the left platen knob, which seems to have a longer shaft).
 
I hope the photographs will illustrate this better than the wordy explanation.
 
(ps I am also looking for one of the adjusters that limit the basket movement on an Olivetti Lettera 22 or 32, not illustrated, but of course I can photo for later)...
