I started off just trying to get hold of anything that was old and charming, (Remington portable 2) or sleek and cool (lettera 22) or curvy and gorgeous (Corona Silent). But then I started getting into drawing with typewriters, so now I'm looking for interesting typefaces and characters. I was (still am) over the moon to find a 6cpi mahcine and right now I'm really happy with my Imperial good companion no.5 with the maths/scintific characters (£7.99 hehehehehehe). I am kind of on the lookout for a Cyrillic typeface, and a Greek typeface and the most impossible, a musical notation typer. More impossible than a Fraktur?! But really, so happy with my Imperial and the pi characters etc, that my searching has become rather half-hearted -  to the relief of my family!

I managed to find some vintage purple carbon paper, which arrived today

May I ask you where did you find it?

I got it on ebay. Pure luck, really. Sometimes there seems to be a lot of it about and other times not at all.

Lovely typeface, so nice and clear. I'm not sure how I would cope with an orange typewriter though!

I use sewing machine oil, works wonderfully well and you can find it easily on ebay. A good alternative for those of us in the UK.

Forgive the Language is the featured book in the Inpress Books email for December. I ordered a copy from the publishers. Looking forward to it!

Yet another seller describing regular typeface as script, this time in multiple auctions. I sent a message. Gah!

makes me wonder what they did to 'service' the machine too...

Curious. I rather like it, but I imagine the shipping would kill it. Trying to picture the crate you'd need to protect it!

Types really well, and for £7.99 (£25 inc p&p) I would be chuffed anyway, but this one has some lovely maths characters too. Still a bit mucky underneath, and the seller seems to have helpfully oiled the segment for me, so I'll be washing that out carefully with some meths. It came with some paperwork and original instructions as well which I always find interesting. I have made the touch-typing booklet into a PDF and included it at the end of my blog post about this typewriter today. Click on the link in my signature if you fancy learning to touch type the Imperial Way!
