A True Dvorak Royal QDL

Greetings All

Just browsing the typewriters for sale up here on eBay Canada and came across this unusual specimen (eBay # 262714894093), just 1½ hour drive from where I live. With having used a Dvorak key map on my computer for almost 10 years, I appreciate the usefulness of the Dvorak key map. I eventually had to switch back to the Qwerty dinosaur as I was getting myself confused by switching from my computer to my typewriters. Let me know what you think.

All the best,

Sky

We humans go through many computers in our lives, but in their lives, typewriters go through many of us.
In that way, they’re like violins, like ancestral swords. So I use mine with honor and treat them with respect.
I try to leave them in better condition than I met them. I am not their first user, nor will I be their last.

That's a real find for sure! Never saw one before.
This one also looks to be in reasonbale shape.
But gosh, I could never adapt to switching this and qwerty regulalry....Maybe this machine is the perfect solution for you?

Re: A True Dvorak Royal QDL

What vintage does it appear to be?  My guess would be that it would be an older one, since DVORAK was a system tried in the 1930s (or thereabouts).  By the time the 1950s rolled around, the experiment was all but forgotten.  But then I wouldn't be surprised that this might be one of those "Easter Egg" Quiet De Luxe machines of the 1950s (I wish I still had mine).
