That's so neat! Yesterday I too got a 1946 S-C Sterling and an Olympia SM9, both in excellent condition. Now I wonder what I did wrong to miss a Kolibri. Based on my numbers, you paid about $55 for the Kolibri, eh?

Sorry for the late answer, but actually no:-) I paid 80 danish kroner for the Groma wich is about 12 USD so it was an absolute steal. The Sterling was around 40 USD and 20 for the SM9. Happy days.

Re: Recent Acquisitions Thread

In the past three weeks I've acquired three ultraportables.
A Kolibri for for what I thought was a very good price. Nice appearance but I spent 2 weeks getting it functioning properly.
A Royal Royalite that has turned out to be a stellar typer after I cleaned out the pyramid of erasure crust in the machine.
A Montana (Ver 2 of the Rocket clone) that I haven't received yet. It will be interesting to see how it compares to my Hermes Rocket.
I'll have to post pictures later.

Re: Recent Acquisitions Thread

I’d offloaded several typewriters, and was down to one, a 1956 SM3. In the blink of an eye, I’m back up at three.

Last week I picked up a Lettera 22.

Just last night, I noticed a 1956 Blue Bird (Torpedo) 18 on eBay for not a large sum of money, and couldn’t resist. I’m yet to pick it up.

Re: Recent Acquisitions Thread

You have to love the line space lever on those machines - super long and pure art. Decent typewriters too if they're in good nick.

Re: Recent Acquisitions Thread

Yesterday I stumbled upon an Olympia SM 7 in a thrift store.
Because they asked only Euro 7,50 for it I instantly bought it.

Turns out the machine is in pretty good state.
Very, very dirty of course, but everthing works, no missing parts and the body is oke for it's age.
However, I was in for a big surprise: it is equipped with the #31 Modern Congress/Congres Modern Pica typeface!

And there is a little mystery too: the TWDB states the SM 7 starts with serial 1949310 in 1962.
However, my SM 7 carries the serial 1839589, from 1961 before the SM 7.

Any thoughts about this typewriter?

Re: Recent Acquisitions Thread

Maybe start a new thread in the portables sub-forum with a photo or two of it. I'm definitely curious...

Re: Recent Acquisitions Thread

I found a unicorn today:  Olivetti Graphika w/ Cassandre!  A bit sticky inside, but generally working.  Very nice that the carriage comes off easily for cleaning.  I'll post some pics when I've got it cleaned, but for now I just had to share

Re: Recent Acquisitions Thread

Over the weekend I hit a few antique shops and found a couple SM-9s and a Remington All-New.  One of the SM-9s is from 1966 and the other 1967.  One is pica and the other elite.  The Remington is from 1950.  The 1951 Silent I got from Goodwill, and it is going to be a project, as I knew it would.

Nothing exciting here for most of you, but since I'm just starting out collecting these I'm happy with what I found

Re: Recent Acquisitions Thread

The All-New is really nice -- underrated. Nothing to say about the SM-9s of course, since more or less they set the standard!
