Smith-Corona Classic 10 5X Series

Just acquired this.  The unit itself is just identified as "Classic" but the SCM data base listed it as "Classic 10" made in 1964.  It has the 5X body style with all the features of a Classic 12, series 6X, except no half-space or power space.  There is an SCM logo on the erase board and on the back.  White keys and knobs.  This is obviously a transition model and judging from the lack of info on the web, none were in ebay or etsy, I suspect there was a limited production.  Needed complete flush and cleaning and now performs very well.  Even came with its instruction manual.  If anyone has more info on this unit I would appreciate it.  Thanks.

Re: Smith-Corona Classic 10 5X Series

I found this YouTube video on a '65 Sterling that is identical in every way in every way except the name and color.  I suspect  that it was just a marketing thing in that they really are the same machine.  I would post a picture of mine if I could figure out how.

That certainly is an interesting one.

I have a Series 6 Sterling on the way. Will be curious how it differs from my series 5 Sterling, other than better color scheme and more obnoxious use of plastic.

That is really a Super 5 Silent Super just before the switch to the Galaxie look.
