My Groma Kolibri had inconsistent left margins and I tightened the carriage rack. Now, you can feel a "grrrrr" when pushing the carriage to the right. It isn't hard at all to move it, it feels sturdy and firm, but I wonder if I might have over-tighten it risking any damage to the rack itself and/or the escapement.

Why not try to un-do a bit of the tightening that you did on the machine...maybe you went a tad too much.

Pete E. is probably right about loosening it just a bit. The growling noise is probably the pinion gear teeth bottoming in the troughs of the escapement rack. There is supposed to be just a slight bit of clearance between the pinion gear and the rack so the bottoms of the teeth don't quite touch.

Thank you both! I gave it some slack and now it is perfect. I did that to get even left side margins as sometimes when pushing the carriage to the right the line started just one character before the left side margin.
