Re: Ribbon Tins...

Pete, I think the stylized antelope tin (top row in your fist photo) is really striking. Is there any information on the back of the container?

Re: Ribbon Tins...

Hi Uwe,

No markings or "ghosts" of any.

Just a tad of glue and pieces of a very small price tag on the back.

Re: Ribbon Tins...

I don't know anything about ribbon tins, but it appears that this one at least might have been sold wholesale for use by anyone - anyone in this case being a repair shop that rubber stamped its details on the back.

I wonder if someone who collects these things has a catalog from a tin manufacturer that showed all of its available motifs?

Re: Ribbon Tins...

Stone the crows... when I said I admired the antelope, I certainly didn't expect a herd of them! Looks like precision work wasn't something that the person stamping these tins was ever accused of...

Re: Ribbon Tins...

Not quite in stunning condition, but still very good.

I have been looking for one for over 1 year.  They do not show up too often.

Re: Ribbon Tins...

I did not win this on on eBay...but it is nice to know another Carter's "Guardian" tin with the Bomber-motif exists and shows up from time to time.

This one flew past my max. and hammered down at $ 46 + S&H on top of that.

Re: Ribbon Tins...

My tins with an American Indian motif.

Note the Copper Chief tin even has a very small version of "Goddess Diana" at the lower part of its art-work.
