Out of 34 machines, my USA-made ones are a minority with only 6 of them in our home :

Added another USA-made machine to my collection.
1958 Tower President (made by Smith-Corona for Sears).
It is hard to believe this machine is 64 years old, today.

My 1959 S-C Model 5TE portable electric.
On my work bench for a couple of weeks to sort out some issues, deep clean and light oiling, and a rehab of the case with dent/hole repairs and a new paint job. Space bar got a new color as well.
I love how decently fast and responsive this little electric is and am so happy that is still has a manual CR lever and other manual carriage functions. Best of both worlds, IMHO.

Another nice case restoration. You are indeed the case master.

Of course you know not to actually use the handle. 1/2 of those era cases I see have broken handles.

Case work is very enjoyable & therapeutic and what I dreamed of during the last 10 years in some "cubicle farm" in my previous Corporate life.
I have 2 Olympia "banded" cases in the works right now.
With the S-C case, I was surprised to not see 2 metal pivot pins in the plastic where they rotate in the aluminum housing.
18.2 lbs of machine inside the case with all plastic handle hardware.
