Looking to buy a nice-conditioned and working Triumph Special typewriter from the 1960's. With QWERTY layout, only.
These machines were half-way in size between the Triumph Perfekt (portable) and the full-sized Triumph Matura (standard).
I am located in Idaho - USA. Willing to pay shipping to bring one home.
Photo, below, is borrowed from a gallery on the YWDB web site :

Is this similar to the Adler Special od '53-'64?
(I was eyeing the Adler Universal on SGW yesterday, so the Adler were on my mind)

Yes, the Triumph is a rebranded Adler machine. The Adler version seems to be much more common, both on the TWDB as on the second hand marked (in the Netherlands). I have also seen machines that look exactly the same as the Special, but carry the name Record.

Rob, the "Universal" and the "Matura" machines are the bigger, full-sized standards with easy to remove carriage, etc.
The "Special" might be similar in size to my AMC (Alpina) portable which is a really big p[ortable and heavy at nearly 18 lbs. I think the "Special" weighs in at 20 lbs. or so.
The "Special" carriage does not pop off with pushing 2 lever or buttons as on the big standards...more work to remove it,

I am interested in locating a Triumph-version of the "Special" as it would keep my smaller Triumph machines from the 1960's company...

Laurenz: Thanks! That helps clear things up.
Pete: Those will make a great matched set! I'm often tempted to create such sets (inspired in part by Uwe's Remington's Typewriter Talk » Remington Quiet-Riter....In-Coming... (boardhost.com)), but space is becoming increasingly an issue.

Pete, the Special is almost as big as the Matura, the main difference is the lower profile. The Special weights around 24 lbs, the Matura 36 lbs.

Seems to look like the same size as my SG1.
I will still hope to find one...one day. I am even known to bring stuff over the Pond from the UK and other parts.

Here is a photo of the Special next to the Matura. Although the Special is not as big as the Matura, it has one character key more and the platen is half an inch wider.

Good looking machines. Thanks for posting up.
