Here's my new addition to my collection. Got it for $40 off of craig's list. I'm pretty sure this is a 1947 royal Quiet De Luxe. Serial is A-1342912,

Yup, you got the model and year right. Very nice machine - and you got it for a decent price too. Any issues with the Royal? It looks to be in good condition.

Nope. I only had to clean the inside of the case and put acetone on the keybars where they go into the typer. It types perfect! A cool thing on it is that it's a basket shifter. The type face is on the Typeface Database thread if you wanna see it's typeface.

That Royal Quiet Delux looks like my Royal, or the same, but a l941. I also have a 1947 Royal Quiet Delux portable, and it is much boxier in shape, and two toned. The keys are not round but tomb stone shape--I've read that the tomb stone are of the later fourties, round of an earlier erra.

Looks like we have the same machine! Hoping to get a key replaced on mine soon! Nice score!

That will hopefully be my next typewriter, if I can get it past the wife.

Mine, bless her heart, gave up a long time ago after a heartfelt conversation about how much pleasure these silly machines bring me. It's either that or she's secretely hoping to come home one day and find me dead under a pile of machines that tumbled down on me.

Well, I don't have to worry about that quite yet, since I'm still in high school. But I think I might have to deal with that, since this typewriter bug of mine has been going on since I was around seven. On a side note, that is a wonderful machine you have right there. I absolutely love Royals and I think they are one of the best typewriter companies that ever lived.
