Ah okay. So this machine in good condition can be sold around $100? I'm gonna keep it around. It's gonna take time but i bet this would start getting some value compared to a royal KHM. They Obviously made more. I'm never selling it but i just wanted to see what its worth for fun. It's a beauty to type with and I like it's typeface better than my 47' De Luxe. My 36' Woodstock's looks pretty close.

Well from the typewriterdatabase.com, the KH was only made for one year. How many do you know exactly were made?

The typewriter might have been a rental. Ray Bradbury wrote about renting machines like that, then paying by the line.

Huh interesting. I'll look that up. I also never see or hear anything about KH's. Mostly KHM's.

There isnt much of a difference between your woodstock and mine. Mine's a 1936 No.5. The big difference is the tab tower on the back. A little differece is green shifts and shift locks.

I'm hunting for an Underwood No.1. From what it researched it was after the Wagner typewriter and was the first commercially successfull front-stroke visable writer. I like  how it is smaller than all of the other typewriters like the No.3 and the No.5. I want a No.3 from the early 1900s ,however, I'm after the No.1 first.

Here's a web pic of  a No.1.

thetypewriterman's suggestion is an excellent one. I've had the mainspring out of a few clocks and they are remarkably similar, but you need to know the size you're after, and given that you said you threw out some of the pieces already, that might make it a little more difficult. As a rule I never throw away broken parts because they might still prove to be invaluable if you end up fabricating something from scratch or want to match it with something similar from another machine.

Yeah. I relized that afterwards. The mainsprings are pain to get back in the drum. I have done it once.  Hopefully the clock repairsman will put it in the drum for me if I have a clock store arond where I live.

Looks like a later model Portable #2. As for the colour, the #2 was available in many colours such a red, green, blue, purple, and ivory, like the machine in this topic.

Oh nice I don't really now to much about the 2's....or Rems at all. still new to the brand. I know alot about Royals and Underwoods etc. I was gonna buy a Rem Portable model 5 de luxe model.
