My first, and only so far, arrived this week : "Brother Correction 100". Needs a new ink-tape and the E key has a slight bend, but other wise in great shape for it's age.

Much like the appreciation of what makes a "beautiful woman", beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder.
Many 60-70's machines are light, sleek and effcient, that can be admired and loved by some. While the classic lines of a 40-50's Smith-Corona machine have a cool RETRO beauty too. Simple yet complex machinery of the early machines is certainly historically attractive. Lot's of choices for all

Well, the little Brother (Japanese ?) 100 Correction arrived in dirty but otherwise good shape. Once I put a new ink tape, I can see how well it really types.
My main interest is having working manual "writing machines" should the power go off for more than a couple days. Being able to communicate to neighbors/community via the typed word, not my scribble handwriting.
So, not your regular collector. But, since I love things mechanical, I may be hooked.
I've got a 1954'ish Smith Corona Super Silent 5 on it's way now

Wow, I'd not heard of the Adler "The Writing Machine" book before. Looking on-line, the prices are over my pay grade.

Hi,
I live in WA state's capitol of Olympia and have always loved "things mechanical". I've learned how to type in High School, 1968'ish, on a manual and now I've won an old Brother 100 Correction. I'll need to ask questions after it arrives.
