I always remove mine from the case when typing. The darn cases tend to get in my way.

That was a very thorough review. It sounds like your little thing has been well loved. I'd like to point out that there's a certain beauty about utalitarian items. 

I'd love to see some pictures if you could get them up and thanks for the review.

But seriously, last Saturday I picked up a new portable. I had sold my Futura about a year ago...big mistake. Turns out I'd become quite attached to that thing. 

So...here's the new girl. She doesn't have a name yet.

I spent some time with it yesterday and was surprised to find it needed a very light, abeit consistent, press of the keys. The previous owner had also gotten an amazing amount of eraser shavings in the type basket. 

But, it's all good. It's proving to be a fun machine. However, sloppy technique is leading to carriage skipping (a new issue for me) so I'm really gonna have to tone myself down while using it.

My name is SpokaneNostalgia.

My interest in typewriters started with an arbitrary decision to buy a Royal Futura portable in 2010. I don't know why I bought it but I did.

I sold that same typewriter about this time last year and it was -the- worst mistake I could have made in regards to the typewriters.

But, I bought a Royal Quiet Deluxe yesterday and apart from nerves about learning its quirks, I'm pretty darn happy.

Right now I'm limiting myself to one usable typewriter, but eventually I'll expand into collecting.
